Biography
Kevin is an oil paint, acrylic and pastel artist specializing in the creation of art that moves people.
Be it via portraiture, figurative, abstract, land or seascapes, Mr. Harris looks to life and translates his perception to the viewer. Considered an impressionist, his style is a free-flowing collaboration of color and texture - intended to inspire a sense of fullness.
Kevin currently has paintings consigned to multiple galleries in Charlotte, NC. He also has a painting in the permanent collection of Cabarrus County Courthouse, and has displayed his work at numerous events throughout the east coast in cities like Charlotte, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. Kevin’s work has also been featured in Art & Beyond Magazine. Additionally, he has self-published numerous books of his pastel portraiture and oil paintings.
The artist currently resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife.
Statement
While creating this body of work it was always clear that the words representation matters was a huge part of my WHY.
Growing up and seeing a world where some of our role models and public facing influences were represented as lacking strength, dignity and compassion, I sought to show the world as I saw it. My art embodies the experience of looking at life around me through a prism of who we are as Black people.
We are Music, we are Love, we are Abstract Thinkers, we are Beauty, we are Textured, we are Dance, we are Seekers, we are Human. We Are!
Ultimately, I Am all the things that make the Black Experience in this thing called life.
